You will

Work closely with Lucent Bio’s experienced Agronomy and R&D team, contributing to innovative research in sustainable crop nutrition and plant growth optimization.
Gain hands on experience with advanced biobased fertilizer technologies, greenhouse trials, and controlled environment experiments designed to improve nutrient efficiency and soil health.

Duties & Supervision

The Employee will perform such duties as are consistent with the position of  Lead Greenhouse Grower and such other duties as the Company may reasonably assign to the Employee,including but not limited to:

  • Operate  Lucent’s  greenhouse  and  growth  chambers  according  to supervisor approved  protocols  and experimental designs,including the following key tasks:
  • Lead  the  greenhouse  technician  team  to  coordinate  daily  tasks,  provide  direction,  and  ensure  all activities are completed according to experimental timelines and quality standards.
  • Monitor greenhouse and growth chamber environmental conditions daily (temperature, humidity,light, etc.) and report any deviations or issues to the supervisor.
  • Prepare fertilizer stock solution and schedule watering and fertilization events according to crop needs and in consideration of experimental designs
  • Maintain plant material by pruning, training, and completing pest and disease control as necessary.
  • Conduct  Germination  Testing  Following  AOSA  (Association  of  Official  Seed  Analysts),  ISTA(International Seed Testing Association), Canada Testing Rules, and perform seedling evaluations.
  • Monitors the overall performance of growing systems every day to ensure it is functioning properly and reports any concerns and helps in troubleshooting.
  • Evaluates  viability  results  (e.g.,  normal,  abnormal,  or  dead),  germination  rate,  accumulated germination  percentage,  and  morphological  characteristics  for  most  species  submitted  to  the greenhouse for testing.
  • Data documentation and collect agronomic measurements and input all data into the appropriate systems (Google Drive).
  • Provide weekly updates to the R&D Agronomy Team on the status of the greenhouse research.
  • Monitors the chemical storage inventory and reports when supplies need to be reordered.
  • Washes, sterilizes, sorts, and restocks used equipment according to laboratory procedures.
  • Monitor  and  troubleshoot minor  issues  of  irregularities  in  media,  temperatures, equipment,  and facilities and immediately report major issues.
  • Maintain growth chambers and greenhouse in a clean, safe, and organized manner.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, or related field OR 3 years relevant working experience
Experience with greenhouse operations or controlled environment agriculture
Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
Holds a valid Pesticide Applicator Certificate (or willingness to obtain within the first 3 months of employment).
Valid First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain shortly after hiring).
